Ozzy Osbourne: From Black Sabbath to Samsung. Sell-out or Wise? Funny or Plain Stupid?

John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne’s career spans has spanned for over 40 years. The “Prince of Darkness” (also known as the “Godfather of Heavy Metal”) has achieved a multi-platinum status, either by being the vocalist of Black Sabbath, or following his solo career.
Ozzy is a guy who has over 15 tattoos, has supposedly intentionally bitten off a bat’s head, has admitted to have been stoned during the entire filming of “The Osbournes Show” and has abused drugs and alcohol for most of his life. In fact it is a miracle that the guy is still standing up after 40 years of abuse.
Ozzy has done a lot extreme and crazy things in his life; after being fired from Black Sabbath he spent three months locked in his room taking vast amounts of drugs and alcohol all day, every day. Also, while wearing Sharon’s dress (his wife) drunkenly urinated on a cenotaph that was erected to honour the heroes of Alamo. His 1984 tour with Mötley Crüe got to be known as the craziest drug and alcohol fuelled tour. Actually at the TEDMED Conference scientists from Knome (an American Personal Genomics company) discussed how the extreme - living rocker has survived decades of drug abuse.
So, after all this extreme rock & roll life style, how is it possible for Ozzy to pursue a career as a TV commercial persona? Is Ozzy a sell-out or is he just making the right business and career choices, fit for his age and his condition? Furthermore, are the commercials that he stars in funny or plain stupid?
The choice is yours.

Those ads were indeed a right giggle but on poor Ozzy I am not too sure.

Dear Eiddwen, thanks for your comments. The ads are indeed very funny. I am not sure whether Ozzy is a good actor or he is just acting his normal self (or both). Fake or no-Fake, Sell-out or not, the ads are hillarious.
I liked Ozzy a lot more before he became a reality TV star/punch line, but even I have to admit, seeing him in TV commercials is funny. I especially like the Pepsi commercial w/him and Donny & Marie Osmond. There's a combo I never imagined in my wildest dreams!

Hi Theo - haven't been making much progress on the Transcendence hub; I'm thinking of switching it up and making it into a full scale "history of" article about the band (similar to my recent Ramones and Overkill hubs) rather than concentrating on that one album.

I've always thought Ozzy was a little overrated, and a sellout since he started his solo career. I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this comment... oh well. BTW, great hub!
